TUMPENG



Tumpeng is a way of presenting a cone-shaped rice, like a mountain, and surrounded by assorted of Indonesian side dishes.
The Tumpeng can be white rice, but more often use yellow rice, which is rice cooked with turmeric water so that yellow.
Rice cone usually presented using Tampah, a rounded woven bamboo tray, and covered with banana leaves.
Side dishes that accompany the yellow rice cone usually consist of: fried tofu, fried tempeh, fried milkfish, egg, shredded, Perkedel (mashed potato fritters),  And as ornaments are often added red chili, cucumber slices, celery, and green long beans.
For the white rice cone usually added more vegetables mixed with grated coconut called Urap, grilled chicken, boiled eggs, and fried milkfish.
The tradition of Tumpeng comes from the Javanese. The composition of a traditional Javanese tumpeng is more complex because the elements must balance one another according to the Javanese belief.
At this time the Tumpeng known by all Indonesian people, so that not only Javanese who serve Tumpeng. But Tumpeng has become a tradition of Indonesian society. A ceremony involving tumpeng called 'tumpengan", and the tradition of Tumpengan has been developed.
Tumpeng presented for a celebration feast or when there is an important event, gratitude ceremony, grand opening of a factory, produk launching, even on kid's.
Tumpeng for kid's birthday is no longer a cone-shaped, but modified in cute animal shapes to replace the function of Birthday cake.
A week ago my sister Yenny Maria made this cute Tumpeng for her kid's birthday, and made the cute meal boxes to be given to children invited.
